Membership Benefits

Benefits of being a member are found in the Chamber’s advocacy, lobbying and representation functions and the opportunity for members to play leading roles in the Chamber’s structures.

The Chamber interacts with, and represents the baking industry in various structures in the wheat value chain such as the Department of Health, Department of Agriculture, Consumer Goods Council, Wheat Forum, SABS, etc.

This enables the Chamber to provide guidance to its members in respect of legislation and regulatory matters and is the link between the industry and authorities.

In this area the Chamber’s Technical Committee plays a key role.

The Chamber also plays a key role in training via its Training Committee and annual examinations (Basics and Theory in Breadmaking). Members qualify for a reduced rate for both the learning guides as well as examination fees.

Members have the opportunity to serve on these structures which obviously gives them an advantage in terms of insight, as well as networking.

The Chamber’s leadership (Management Board) comprises representatives from major players in the baking industry elected annually at the Chamber’s AGM which is our flagship event.
